India begins military practice with 17 African countries


Inauguration ceremony of Africa-India Field Training Practice-2011 (AFINDEX-19) for India and African countries was held on 18 March 2019 at Aundh Military Station, Pune. This exercise program will last from March 18 to March 27, 2019.

Indian Army started ten-day military exercises with 17 African countries which reflects the growing strategic relationship between India and the African continent. Maj Gen Sanjeev Sharma, General Officer Commanding, Golden Katar Division, was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.

Chita helicopter and advanced light helicopters flagged the flags of the United Nations, India and AFINDEX-19 in the opening ceremony. Chief guest and defense officials from African countries negotiated with the contestants after the end of the parade.

17 African Nations Name:


In 17 African countries, troops from Benin, Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe are participating.

This exercise will focus on the strategic level of operations between the participating countries, the exchange of best practices, team building, and the work done by the United Nations mandatory.
